Mortgage rates have finally shown some relief as we head into the last quarter of 2025. As of mid-October, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate sits around 6.25%, down slightly from recent highs earlier in the year.
Market Update: Fed Cuts ≠ Mortgage Rate Cuts
As of August 19, 2025, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate in the U.S. is holding near 6.60%, up slightly from 6.59% the previous day, according to Mortgage News Daily’s daily survey.
